Starting a week or so ago, Netflix keeps turning on subtitles on my iPad Pro. I turn them of by the little icon in the top right hand corner by the volume control in the Netflix app but they keep getting turned back on the next tv episode or movie that I bring up. Is this happening to anyone else?

You know, I have. Similar issue on the PGAtourlive app, and there is no option to turn it off. I know there is an option to enable CC in settings under accessibility, but it doesn’t fix my problem.

I think there's a an issue with the Netflix app on the iPad at the moment. I changed the color of my subtitles, which then should apply automatically to any device. It worked fine on my Galaxy S8 and my TV, but the just iPad wouldn't adjust the subtitles.

I wonder if it’s a bug in the latest iOS? I have this problem on another streaming app, and it doesn’t even have an option for CC, so I shouldn’t be able to turn it on/off I’m the first place. I am able to change the appearance of the captions in general accessibility settings, but captions are currently disabled by default! I currently have the appearance set to something that can barely be seen so it’s less distracting.

I think is related to the specific show, and not the netflix app. I have shows that keep changing language to spanish and force me to change back every chapter (i.e., Voltron), while others don't.

I believe the issue is stemming from the new cinematic way of featuring a tv season or movie that Netflix was doing for the last couple of weeks. At first it would look as it always does (right after you log in and see your list etc. at the top it features a movie or tv show) but after a few seconds it would “animate”(for lack of better words) and show a clip of whatever it is that it’s featuring at the top. In the bottom right hand corner of that part of the screen was a mute icon...if I left that alone and left it muted then subtitles would be turned on when I started watching something. If I unmuted it then no subtitles. I haven’t seen this happen in a few days so I wonder if Netflix realized this was pissing people off inadvertently and stopped that new way of showing a featured program. Dunno.
