Hi All,

quick question. I have tried playing Netflix from safari but the window just shows a black screen but I can hear the sound. Is that just the way it is?

Thanks

Josh

I’d assume that’s a copyright protection feature when you are streaming your Macs display to another screen. If you try and use Netflix on the Apple Vision Pro natively, it should be fine 🙂

Yeah, looks like Netflix streaming is disabled if you are using a Mac virtual display. But as above why don't you just play via VP Safari?

Or spend a few bucks on Supercut if you want to watch their content in an app? It looks like the chances that Netflix will bring a native app to the VP are pretty slim until the less expensive hardware comes out in 2025 provided that drives enough sales to make it worth their while. IMO Supercut is well worth the very reasonable price they are changing for it if you want to view Netflix content in an app.

So I just tested this and using Safari with Mac Virtual Display I could watch Netflix - audio comes out of the Mac as usual - I'm on visionOS 2 - my understanding in general though is that the Mac Virtual Display doesn't have HDMI protection limits

Don't understand the HDMI reference. The virtual display will not play the commercial streaming sites I tested. Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+ all just give black screens.
