Does anyone have an idea when the updated NetNewsWire app for Google Reader will be released? It sucks not having laptop and iPhone rss readers not in sync with each other (like they were prior to the Newsgator switch to Google Reader).

I am wondering this as well. If the new version that supports Google Reader isn't out by the end if he month then I will be switching away from NNW and moving on to another product. I know they can't help how long it takes for Apple to approve their app but it wouldn't be smart to leave your customers without their feeds. The customers will get pissed and leave you for an app that can get the job done. I've been considering leaving but I will give them until the switchover before I bail on them.
I've just been using a bookmark for google reader on my iphone. I've also been considering other reader apps for my iPhone, but I'd like to see what NNW's new app is like before spending the money. The overall conversion from newsgator to google was certainly poorly executed.
+1. I love Byline. It's my most used app and It works really well. Worth every penny.
Before the end of the month I think as that's when Newsgator are turning off their own sync platform in favour of the Google alternative...
How is $5 absurd. People work hard to create these applications. I can't believe how cheap people are. $5 is the price of a McDonald's value meal. The food is gone after eating it. The application will be used for as long as you have the iphone. Tell me now if $5 is worth it.
How about Instapaper integration...
That was the one thing I've been waiting for in NNW.app.
However, I've already changed my workflow to accommodate Google Reader, and I do believe it's a change for the better.

The developer has said that Instapaper will be coming since so many people have requested it.
I've seen a lot of reference to Instapaper recently. It seems like it's the equivalent of starring a feed item in Google Reader/Byline. Byline will download a copy of the item for offline reading. And, it's of course available for reading through the standard Google Reader interface on your computer.
Is there another advantage to Instapaper?
Think of Instapaper as the one place you put all the stuff you want to read later. If you browse the web and find an article you´d like to read later, you just use the Instapaper bookmarklet, or if someone on Twitter links to something cool to read you can send that to instapaper, the same with RSS feeds. Instapaper will then work as the only app to use to read all this stuff. Other RSS readers like Byline and Gazette will support Instapaper very soon as well.
OK, I think I get it. I currently do the same thing with the "Note in Reader" bookmarklet.
Excellent news. I really want to support NNW. I really do. From the reviews I've read, they've been a great application for years now, but with some of the changes at the corporate level, I'm not sure that NewsGator is committed to desktop RSS readers, nor it's customer base anymore.
I was really waiting for the new version of NNW.app, but I'm just not sure anymore.
Plus, since migrating to Google Reader, I've been able to make that my homepage and with Firefox + Greasemonkey + Instapaper in Google Reader, my reading is even more streamlined.
ptackbar, The thing I love about instapaper is that it's a single repository that's stored online. I can access my reading list anywhere I have an internet connection. And for the times I don't, my iPhone can download the articles for later. Another cool thing is that I use it socially with my wife. If she's looking at a page and wants to share it with me (say we are both at work), she just adds it to my reading list through a bookmarklet on the toolbar. I can open my reading list and see it instantly. No emailing a link, or trying to spell it out for me. I can see it instantly.
