Hello. I set up a network connection between my Mac and Windows 7 Pro. It has been working great up until yesterday. I can connect from Win 7 to my Mac but can't connect from Mac to Windows 7. I have gone to Server and added the ip address, the authentication box comes up and I type my username PLEX and password consists of five numbers as it did before but I get the message..

There was a problem connecting to the server 192.168.0.xx

Has anyone had this happen before?

Very annoying to say the least.

System Info..

Mac Pro 1,1
El Capitan 10.11.6

Id recommend you try to connect without a password or username and see if its working, also when you type in your windows machines IP it may have changed from what it was before if you dont have a static IP for it, your router reassigns local IP’s all the time and all you might need to do is find out if your IP has changed. I’m not exactly sure which one of your machines is the server hosting Plex, Instead of using The apple server app try connecting via finder and see what happens. I dont have any experience with the apple server app but there are plently of possible problems you could be having in this scenario and honestly going to the Mac Pro forum really isnt the best idea if you’re looking for help, this is a networking issue

OK thanks for your help. It has the same ip as always. My windows machine is the host for PLEX and all devices can connect without a problem. I'm using the mac to transfer files over or at least I was.

I only posts here as i own a mac Pro. Not really searched the forums for a network section, will take a look and thanks again for your suggestions.

Issues for me with latest "Patch Tuesday" Windows 7 Updates causing Network share issues

Yes that explains a lot. I did a clean install of Win 7, set a restore point, checked that I could connect from my Mac, I could! Installed the latest updates and access was blocked. Needless to say I restored to the earlier restore point and all was good. The link you provided made an interesting read.

Thanks.
