For a while now, I get popups that say "Network Direct" needs to be update. One of the option is to "keep" and I think the other one was to delete. It goes on to say the update is needed because of iOS14.

I get this message for other apps as well. AFAIK, network direct has something to do with Citi Bank. While I almost never use the Citi Bank App, it seems to open fine without any mention of needing an update.

Also, I have "automatic updates" on. Why do I keep getting these messages?

That note means that the publisher is not updating their existing app for iOS 14 and they are replacing it with an entirely hew app. You have an app on your iPhone called "Network Direct" and it requires an update for iOS 14. Since you don't even seem to know that you have it installed, I'd recommend that you delete the app.

If you can't find an app called "Network Direct" perhaps the message is coming from the Citibank app. Try deleting that and installing the latest version.

Google says there was an app called "Citi Network Direct" that was described as:

Citi Network Direct is a proprietary mobile platform that leverages the breadth and depth of Citis global network to deliver service innovation through access, insight and expertise. On the application, investors can access detailed information on fund flows, local market practices, transactions and counterparty exposures and access Citi experts around the globe.
This app appears to have been dropped, since I can't find it in the App store. It is also not the same as the Citibank app, which still exists (and is updated regularly).

Probably best just to delete "Network Direct," as it's dead.

OK, from now on, anytime I see this message, I'm going to delete it. I was starting to worry this was a scam or hack to gain access to my apps on my iphone. I thought my apps automatically updated.

Thanks for the input.

To try clarifying…

The “‘[app_name]’ needs to be updated” message is saying the noted app must be updated to be compatible with the currently installed iOS version, which is why you saw it only after updating iOS. Because you have automatic updates enabled, it’s not a lapse on your end rather a lapse by the developer. In other words, as @jetsam stated, the Network Direct app appears to have been abandoned. So, the App Store has been checking for updates but an updated version of Network Direct compatible with iOS 14 was never and evidently will never be released/available.

Yesterday I saw it pop up and when I selected "keep", 2 or 3 apps immediately updated. Don't understand why they don't automattically update.
