I'm not sure what's happened to my rock solid home network, but I was hoping someone here could help me fix it.
I run an MDD, and old Graphite and an 800 MHZ iBook on an Asante router. I occasionally switch the iBook to AirPort, but that's rare and shouldn't be related, I figure.
Lately, I get a "Connecting to Server (error -36)" message when I try to access the 'Book from the MDD and vice versa. Now, this is interesting: Both machines can use the Graphite as a go between to transfer files, and each machine has a stable connection to the Net via the router, so I don't figure it's a hardware problem.
Wait, there's more - Sometimes, after I get the error, I try to connect from the MDD and choosing any of the machines on the network leads to the Graphite. Click "Connect" for the 'Book and get the Graphite. Even having the MDD connect to itself pulls up the Graphite. This makes me think AppleTalk is mixing up the IDs for the machines. However, my IP's are stable and controlled by the router, so I am not sure where to begin.
Does this sound familiar to anyone? I'd like to understand WHY this would happen just as much as I'd like to fix it.
Thanks in advance,
Dan
