Network Ping Problem

I have two imac computers networked both running Leopard OS. Mac1 connects to the 2wire ADSL router via Ethernet. Mac2 connects via wireless. Wireless signal is strong. Both computers can connect to the Internet. Both computers can share files with each other. Firewalls set to allow all incoming connections.

Cannot ping from either computer to the other. Error message: Permission Denied. Using the terminal for pinging has the same results. Have not found a solution search the forums.

Would like to solve this problem before attempting to add a windows xp laptop to the network. Any suggestions/guidance would be appreciated.

Here is the terminal output while trying to ping Mac2.

Do you have parental controls on? I've seen some strange behavior when running parental controls.

Are you setup as the administrator?

From the terminal does /sbin/ping work?

Thanks for responding. Parental Controls are off. I cannot ping by computer name or using the IP address. I have checked the router software and the block ping in not activated. Have been battling this problem for a couple days so appreciate your suggestion.

You have to check if the software firewall in the computer is not blocking OUTGOING ping.

I am logged in as the Administrator. The command /sbin/ping command produces the same error - permission denied.

The router software is not checked to block pinging. The software firewall in the imac is set to allow all incoming connections. I have not found a place where I can set the Outgoing Ping to be allowed.

Really appreciate all the help and suggestions.
