Network vs. local accounts - OS 10.7.4

We're a small education institution that supports a number of Macs for faculty members. With the recent upgrade to 10.7.4 we've noticed some very odd issues.

We configure a local admin account, let's call it "professor". All PC's and Mac's have this local admin account configured for all support staff members have a local login. For reasons I have no control over, we also have a domain account called "professor" that does not have administrative rights. This is used by a small number of people

Mac's are bound to the AD.

With the install of 10.7, we've noticed that when we are plugged into the network and type in the "professor" username and local admin account password, we get logged into the network "professor" account and do not have any rights.

Any ideas, or any other information I can provide that would help resolve this?

I don't believe you can do that. AD will always take precedence. You should just for the sake of best practice not have a service account in AD and locally with the same name.

I absolutely agree, but unfortunately this is out of my control.

Also please note that this worked just fine prior to 10.7.....

I just don't see how this is going to work being bound to AD unless the account is created and then bound to AD.
