Hey all!
I just purchased a powerbook, my first mac! I networked it to my windows pc to copy over files so I could use them on my mac (Documents, Pictures .etc)
Since my windows pc is probably full of spyware & adware (even though scanners don't detect anything or claim to have cleared them)
I was wondering if by connecting my mac to a windows pc, could it be possible for viruses, spyware or adware to be transferred to the powerbook via the network cable? Sorry is the question is lame, its just a concern I have. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Nope, the viruses won't run on OSX. It'll be fine.

The only possible problem is if something accidentally gets transferred from your Mac (where it has been laying dormant) and infects your PC but that's still very unlikely.

You're pretty safe.

Since it's impossible to run windows code <try and start an setup.exe and see wat happens>. And a virus is just like any other program, some executable code, so it just won't run.

Your mail client is different from outlook, and doens't have all the security holes.
Your web browser is different from ie, and doesn't ahve all the security holes.

You're pretty safe. Although you should never just open and start programs, let alone never ever enter your admin password without knowing why, but that's just common sense....
