Networking Leopard and OS9

I've just got a new iMac at work (in the 21st Century at last). Running Leopard. Also have a Mac Mini running 10.4, both can see each other clearly on the network.

The Mac Mini can also see all the machines running OS 9 on the network, along with all the shared drives on them. The iMac can't and I don't see any way of changing settings etc in order to let it do so? Can this be done?

I've had a mess about and answered my own question. As long as the OS9 Macs are set up to be able to connect to via tcp/ip, then you can enter afp://0.0.0.0 <ip address of the machine you are connecting to from your Leopard Mac> in Safari <other web browsers are available...>, it will connect that way. It's a little messy, but it works...

Not messy at all....

It's just that Mac OS 9 doesn't support Bonjour. It does have a "Network Browser", but it's not that gr8.
Connecting via TCP/IP, and creating an alias of the Share is easier.

Yep TCP/IP is the way to go, Tiger dropped Appletalk for Appleshare file sharing (only for printers now I believe).

To make things easier, instead of aliasing on the Mac OS 9 computer, or via Safari, hit command-k or use the Finder menu: Go>Connect To Server… to alias the IP in the "Connect To Server" window in Leopard.

If you still have troubles you might consider setting up a FTP server and they should tlak to each other that way too. But you still have to set up TCP/IP for that as well.

I have a related problem with OS9 and Leopard. I have a XSERVE with Leopard and probably 12 machines on it. I have one OS9 Machine that will see the network via TCP/IP and it will place icons on the desktop when mounted but they are whited out and will open but individual files wont open, just says fine not found. Is there anything to do to get it to connect a different way or something?
