I am using an iPhone 6 on UK network EE. I am currently traveling in Nigeria. Everything was going fine, making and receiving calls, but suddenly out of the blue I stopped picking up local networks.
I have also lost the 'Carrier' settings tab in the settings app (see attached image.)
The phone can still connect to wifi but not GSM. I just get searching in the top left.
I have restored from a back up (a month old one in my iTunes library). The internet is not good enough where I am to re-download the iOS. Tried estimated time was about 432 days!.
Any thoughts? Will it come back to life when I land in the UK?

I have just re-done that, (I did do it earlier) but still no luck. Still haven't got a network or carrier options.

Have tried "popping out" the sim. No joy.
I haven't let EE know, but I have been with them for several years and have travelled extensively during this time and have never had this problem before. Also not sure that it would have removed items from settings menu if it was just EE restricting my service.

and u didnt figure ur out of network range whatsoever..?
I am not. I am sitting in exactly the same hotel room I was 48 hours ago when I had service. It might surprise you that huge parts of the world do have good mobile phone reception. mobile data is somewhat more sporadic but get a basic signal on your phone should be fairly straight forward.

Back in UK now and still not picking up any networks. Have done full iOS reinstall. Tried sim in another iPhone. It worked. No appointments with geniuses available so heading to Apple Store to see if I can see one any way. Not a great day to go to Apple Store for a technical problem I fear.
