Hello! I'm the developer of a new Mac app that I'm calling Nevis. It runs in the background and monitors for new files in the directories you choose. When it finds an DMG (or in a future update a ZIP) file it will search for applications, moving any found to a directory of your choice – such as /Applications – and then opening the application and moving the original DMG or ZIP to the trash.

You can customise how automatic you want this process to be, from being asked before any actions are taken to fully automatic. Nevis also supports installing applications by dragging a file on the app icon or status bar icon. Below is a screenshot of the settings screen for a directory.

I'm looking for beta testers to provide feedback so I'm offering the app for free during the beta period. You can download the app from https://download.nevis.app/Nevis.zip.

I'm still working on a few things before the app is released, such as:
  • Support for ZIPs (coming very soon)
  • A new icon
  • Option to hide the dock icon while running
  • Option to open on login
  • UI tweaks
Feedback can be provided on this thread, directly to me on Twitter, or you can find a feedback email address in the Intro screen when running the app for the first time.
