Just picked up a 11.6" MBA this past Saturday. I am noticing an interesting display "issue"... I wanted to confirm that other's are not seeing this before I take it back to the store.

On the bottom of the display, there's a strip, maybe 2-3mm worth, where it is darker than the rest of the display. Are any of you seeing this behavior as well? It's particularly noticeable when when using solid background colors.

Thanks,
-S

I have this too. It looks like a subtle gradient. It annoyed me at first, but I've gotten used to it...

I noticed this mostly on a 13" MBA that I had. The bottom of the screen looks like a drop shadow.

The 11" that I have now also does it. Not quite as bad. I've been thinking about posting this for a while. The 13" that I had was really bad.

My 13" MBP does not exhibit that at all. Its just as bright on the edges.

For some reason the 11" doesn't bother me as bad. But it does do it.

Thanks for the replies. Generally I've seen light bleed on the bottom with other laptops, but this is the reverse of that... I think it bother's me more because when using Chrome, I like to use full screen to maximize the number of lines I get. This is when it becomes really noticeable.

Wait a few days; you might get used to it. I use full-height Chrome windows and it just doesn't bother me anymore.

Just posted about this on the Apple Discussions board. Thought it was just me, and it seems to only be prevalent with white windows such as Finder or a blank browser window. Looks like a vignette.

I thought it may be just because of the LED-backlit display, I've only had one other 10"+ LED display and that was an Asus netbook.

Edit: Just when to the landing page for our McAfee ePolicy, which has a vertical pinstrip background. Had a bad display flicker.

I ended up taking it in. Showed the "genius"... all I said was, take a look at the bottom of the screen when I boot... he saw the issue and immediately replaced it with a new one.

The new unit is much better... but I can still see it under some conditions. At this point, I am just going to have to assume it has to do with the display panel or something. Or maybe I am losing my mind. :)

No display is perfect. If you look hard enough, you will find something wrong with every single one. Trust me: I've done it.

Agreed. For me, it was a matter of "threshold"... right now it's below my tolerance level, so I am ok with it. :)

I have this. It's a thin little border around the whole screen. I don't mind it, because the LCD is so thin it's ought to be a bit funky.
