As the title states, received my 12.9 pro today and comparing it to last years the sound is noticeably worse. It’s much less full sounding, like my echo dot 2. Really disappointed tbh. I think I’ll be sending it back. Gutted, the new form factor is beautiful but no difference in screen or porformance that I can see.

Anyone else got both they can test?

I compared my new 12.9 with my second gen 12.9 and the new one sounds better to me. Not night and day, but a noticeable amount.

Did you check to see if you have the same setting in the Music EQ as your old iPad Pro?
I have Bass Booster set on all my iDevices which is what I prefer.
Yours might not have carried over or you forgot to re-set it to your liking?

Thanks I’ll check.

NO, not it does not. I have had every iPad and my 11" sounds the best.
Ok then.

There may be some quality control issues going on. I noticed the sound on my 11” also didn’t sound as clear as my wife’s older iPad Pro. Also the balance seemed to be offset to the left. I tried adjusting balance under accessibility; but the snap to center on the slider kept me from getting it just right. I also had problems with my USB-C (see WiFi thread) and also a spec of dust or dead pixel in upper left. I decided to return it and wait to see if these are early run issues.

I had the 12.9 also and found the sound fine. Not really as “amazing” as everyone seems to be saying though. Seems similar to the other 4 speaker iPads. Maybe a bit more of a 3D sound, but also a somewhat less accurate imaging and clarity. Might be Apple is still tuning this new speaker setup.
