$530 difference after taxes, 17" has a bigger screen, 40GB more HD space and a longer battery life. which would you prefer as a desktop replacement? (some movement, but generaly just from place to place in the house)

If you don't mind the price difference, I would go for the 17" since it will be a desktop replacement.

Working for MI-6
I would go for the 15" PowerBook G4 over the 17"er- its cheaper, smaller, lighter, and just as fast. But if you need the extra HDD space and screen real-estate, then go for the 17" PowerBook G4.

Some people are having issues with lines on the 15" showing up (not all but many). Nothing like that with the 17"s. Since you're replacing your desktop and are limiting your movement (and can afford the price difference) I'd go with the 17".

I'm quite fond of the 15" myself, but I move around more with it...to me, the 17" is simply too bulky for portable travel outside of the home...if I were going to use it as a desktop...well...I'd buy a Mac desktop instead. :D

Sorry I didn't reply back to your message on AIM.

I would definitely go for the 17" as a desktop replacement. Plenty of workspace on the 17" at 1680x1050.

the other issue I've heard about id RAM over 1GB in the 15", and since I can get 2x1GB sticks for like $135, I'm def gonna do that, and if there is an issue with having more than 1GB, thats gonna be an issue. also the 17" gets better battery life, and I take my laptop to bed to watch movied unplugged every once in a while, so longer battery life is def better for that.

The other thing is, when I went to Small Dog electronics, the 17" had the 7200RPM HD, and it was vibrating because of it and it was super annoying to me, does anyone know if this is an issue w/ 5400RPM HDs in the 17"?
