As of four hours ago my order status was changed to Sent to Manufacturing.

Hopefully, tomorrow it will change to Preparing for Shipment, and then the next day (Wednesday) it will say Shipped. And then Thursday it will be here. :)

It may take a couple of days before it is built.

And did you pay for overnight shipping? Otherwise it will take a few days for you to get it.

Dont Forget They are Flying that thing from China, you may want to add another day ;)

Ah, I seriously doubt that. They must prepare custom orders here in the US. There is no way they do them in China because it would take a week just to ship here. As I'm sure they don't ship from China to the US by FedEx or UPS... most certainly by cargo ship.

Also, yes, I opted for FedEx Overnight Delievery.

Actually, for laptops and iMacs, they do the BTO at the factory. And yes they do use Fedex to ship stuff from Asia. Usually they ship it in a consolidated container (which costs less) and it is broken out into seperate shipments in the US. And for reference, a cargo ship would take longer than a week.

So you could get it the next day from Asia. Just remember with the timezone differences, it could ship Thursday morning Asia time, which meeans you could have it Friday, but you might get the shipping notice Wednesday night US time. But it still shipped Thursday according to everybody since shipping date and time is relative to where it is shipped from.

thats one thing i love about living in anchorage. fedex has a huge hub at the airport here and all their asian cargo goes through here before heading down to the lower 48. theyre really fast about it too. when i ordered my powerbook i chose the free shipping, and pretty much got it overnight from taiwan i think it was?

When did you place your order, Apple!Freak?

Thanks for the insight, Bear.

I placed my order Thursday morning. 12:30am PST, so it was just 30 minutes into the day at that point. :p

How lame is this!?!

FedEx tracking shows scheduled deliver for Monday (because it's shipping from Shangai, China). So, not tomorrow, not the next day, or the day after that, or the day after that, but, Monday! I was expecting Friday at the latest.

Wow, talk about a letdown.

Why do you have to wait until the 31st? What pisses me off, I paid for next day air and I'm getting 5-day air!?!

I'm calling Apple later today and am going to demand a refund on shipping.

Yeah, though, I ordered mine the day it came out on the 12th. You would think they could get a computer from China to the US in a week. You'd just think!?!

Apple's been pissing me off latley. I really needed this iMac for the weekend because I was free this weekend. Now, I'm not going to be able to play with it when it arrives Monday because I leave Monday night to go out of town--europe actually. :p

venting my frustration

The thing that I don't understand is that when you place a 17" imac in your cart, you are quoted a 3-5 business day shipping window. Yet, I ordered mine this past saturday (15th), which should mean that it will be shipped no later than this friday (21st). However, when I check my order status, I am getting a "on or before the 24th" shipping date, which is next monday. :( Apple is sneaking in an extra weekend on me!

I just want my computer!!!

*my apologies, I used the recent death of my Gateway notebook as an excuse to "make the switch", and I'm getting very impatient*

Did you not read that guys post about time zone differences? Its Thursday over in China. The day you ship it typically doesnt count with Fedex, they don't deliver on weekends, so technically 1 day air would be Monday. Stop complaining and definitley stop bitching about Apple because it isn't their fault.

I see you have never shipped with FedEx Overnight before.

Overnight means overnight. It doesn't mean the day of shipping and the next day and then they deliever the next. It means you ship one day, it goes overnight and on the morning of the next day it arrives.

So be it if it's Thursday in China. That means I should be getting my iMac Friday! Period!
