I only hear mine when I have the keyboard cover on. Turns out that the left half of the keyboard is open to the CPU below to let some heat escape that way. So those $10 silicon keyboard covers from iSkin make the computer a little hotter b/c they trap the air. Same thing with the MBPs. (Unfortunately I've lived through too many coffee spills to not use the cover.)

Using Safari, Firefox, iTunes, and Dashboard, my BlackBook's fans are spinning at 1800 rpm and barely noticeable. Even when they go up to 6200, they are not bad.

I don't hear mine at all. Even when I run, iTunes, Safari, yahoo webcam, iChat, and some other programs, I can't hear it. The only time I have heard my fans was when I tried Transmission and Stellerium, those shot the temp up high and my fans were blowing, I could hear it, but it cooled right down and was back to normal.

i concur.

normal usage the noise level is fantastic, beats any pc laptop...

under load its not overly loud just the sound it makes is annoying, cheap sounding where pc laptops sound more 'right' imo
