if you look at screen shot the fan is 1800 rpm when using snow. with lion I don't have istats installed yet it seems fine. here is a screen shot showing ram use with snow running.

so it seems stable fan at 1800 rpm with 1.23gb ram used.

okay I booted into lion same 3 programs it uses 1.68gb ram so you really need more ram then 2gb for lion. I will run some geek bench scores

I might sound a bit thick here, but you're running Snow Leopard on a NEW Mac mini?

How awesome is that? I was just wondering if there would be a way to install Snow Leopard as I'm not keen on Lion - its taking me a while to get used to.

maybe I am still working out a few driver problems.

I may not get this to work correctly. right now my 64 bit geek bench score with the lion partition is about 6400 my 64 bit geek bench score with the snow partition is about 1950. issues seem to be all graphics.

I am looking forward when you do the same on the 2.5 with dedicated videocard.

You're one clever Fella... if as above you're due to get a 2.7 i7 and have a play, I'd be really interested to read what you do and the results you get.

I love tinkering with things like this, so would be up for the challenge of installing a SDD... already got 8Gb Samsung Memory on order.

Sounds like you're encountering the same issues as I did. It's so close, but no cigar...

1 TB is sweet!

Now...have you by chance figured out a way to have an SSD in there as the boot drive plus the 1TB in there as well as a secondary drive for storing files? That would make the i5 2.3 Mini awesome!

right now the only way to do it is buy a server and use the cabling.

this would only be tempting if I had a hi end i7 2.7 model.
