Hey all,

Would you recommend one of the new 20" intel Imac for my work machine.
I am a graphic designer and would be using photoshop, illustrator and would be doing video editing also??
I like the dual boot thing with bootcamp

I dont want to buy a dual or quad g5 powerpc as they are too expensive and a spec'd up 20" intel imac was a good price.

I dont know if the intel imac will be powerfull enough for photoshop etc...
I would be willing to use it a bit slower in rosetta for a little while until they come out for universal early 07.

I currently am using a pc. (amd 2.6ghz with 1gb ram) And its about 3 years old and is chugging along and i want to upgrade to a MAC.
( i use a 12" g4 powerbook and its GREAT, just not fast enough for photoshop etc..)

what you guys think??

I would say you should.
These are great machines, a 20 inch with the 2 GhZ Processor(that is per core :p ) that equals 4 Ghz

Reccomended!

im assuming youre going to want dual boot because rosetta is SOOO SLOOWWW. yeah, i'd go for it too. loving the 20 inch, even if i don use it for crazy photoshoppin. windows is smooth on the mac

or would you wait till mid this year when they bring out the new max osx lepoard?

Well you know that leopard will most likely not be released until the end of the year or next year, they will give an early copy to developers and then release the full version later. So if you were going to wait to buy a Mac for 10.5, I would just buy it now and enjoy it.

Regarding the iMac, I would pick up a used PowerMac because if you are going to be using pro applications, the nice part about the PowerMac's are that you can upgrade it but if the used ones are still to expensive, I would pick up the 20" iMac because they are great Mac's.
