Here is mine:

Mac Air 13' Fully spec'd 4gigz/2.13 c2d
Hooked up to the new 27 cinema display - air display off/closed

I'm using istat nano to report:

Currently surfing with chrome, couple tabs open, itunes streaming mp3

Fans at 3086prm

Ambient - 76F degrees

HD 40c
CPU 60-61
Heatsink 39
Enclosure 33
Northbridge 54
Mem 38
Power supply 35


The only thing that really changes drastically for me is the CPU temp.

I mostly hover around 48 at idle.

I'm assuming Celsius? There seems to be some inconsistency. iStat defaults to Celsius, but I switched it to Fahrenheit. The CPU is 113 and the Northbridge is 105, both about 3 minutes after starting it up and running nothing but Safari. Everything else is between 76-81.

As the OP, MBA connected to a 27 ACD, lid closed, temps in celsius, running DW, Mysql Workbench, iTunes, and several chrome tabs with active flash player...

My CPU-temps are between 35-45C when surfing, using spotify, word etc...
When using flash temps go up to around 45-55C. I have a MBA 11'.

I Have Become Alarmed...

My temps are as follows (at 71 degrees F ambient):

HD: 40
CPU: 79
Enclosure Base: 32
Heatsink B: 41
Mem Bank A1: 37
Northbridge: 64
Power Supply: 36

Additionally, my fan has started running at a higher than normal speed, near 4000RPM, with spikes much higher.

Also, my battery time has taken a dive. It used to show over 7 hours remaining when fully charged and first unplugged, now it shows fully charged and just 3 hours, then drops rapidly.

I've had no problems for the last 5 weeks of ownership.

iStat Nano is a widget that you can download onto Dashboard.

On power adapter last 4 hours, have skype, 3-4 browsers open.

Temperature in C:

HD: 33
CPU: 43
Enclosure base: 26
Heatsink B: 30
Mem Bank: 31

My CPU temp is still really high: 180 degrees F/78 degrees C with almost no apps running...

Should I be concerned?

Not sure what's going on, but disabling AdobeResourceSynchronizer, which was continually running in the background chewing up resources and clock cycles has returned my temps, CPU and battery readings to normal.

Weird, but am glad that I've gotten back to normal!

I have yet to see it go above 180F in OSX. It only gets up to that temp if I'm playing a game or a Flash video. The northbridge and CPU are the only areas in which it gets that hot.

Hey guys, well had my MBA alittle over a month now. I have switched from using Istat nano to using "temperature monitor". I find that i get more accurate results from this program because from what i understand, Istat nano only reads the CPU diode, not tapping into the x86 readings of the chip itself. The CPU diode is a analog sensor that typically is not accurate to the true CPU temp.

"temperate monitor", is free, and comes with a driver that actually interfaces with the intel temps of each core, thus you get accurate readings from the cores, this is what matters to me. It also uses ALMOST no system resources itself. It also has a option of dynamically displaying the core temps in the dock which is cool. So long story short, I think this program is better!


I have permanently disabled both dashboard and expose (never use them and they are resource hogs) and am using the new beta of chrome with beta 2 of flash.

I am now at idle at 29c - 36c depending on ambient room temp on both cores and run at about 46c under normal usage (streaming mp3, chrome multiple tabs open, email open, etc) with my mac connected to my a new 27'' ACD. Pretty Happy!
