new 2011 MacBook coming out soon? White and black models

Anyone know of the new MacBook coming out this summer or in the fall this year ?

I hear rumors of a new Macbook coming out as the one they have is year old .I hear the new one will have option of being white or black what ever the peron likes as a color


I don't think it will be a i7 or have over 4GB of RAM with the apple pushing the 15 inch Macbook pro. Most likely it be same or little bit better than the 13 inch Macbook pro but not has good as the 15 inch Macbook pro.

Because it only sold 80.000 to 100.000 models the last quarter, the new MBAs sell much better.

And rumours are rumours, they aren often true.
 
The Rumours were wrong!

The new MacBook Air and existing MacBook Pro 13" have the bases pretty well covered as regards price and portability.

That is true .But that still does not explain the fan base of the white Macbook.

I know some people that that is the only laptop they would get.

I think for apple to do this is like being rude to the fan base of the white Macbook
 
You're not really understanding the mechanics of how a company like Apple works. For one thing, discontinuing the MacBook line just makes financial sense. Apple isn't here to appease some "fan base", they're here to make money. It's not rude to do what you need to achieve your overall goal.

Actually, it is quite rude. Not everyone can have a flimsy aluminum laptop. Some of us, who are always on the go, need a laptop that can withstand reasonable falls. The polycarbonate laptops provided this option. Much like Matte screen, I think Apple may rethink this move. I was getting ready to purchase a new MacBook if they made a black one. Now, I'll stick with my current last generation MacBook. After that is no longer useful, I'm not sure what I'll do. I have dropped my black MacBook ten times now. It's perfectly fine and functional. You can't say that about the aluminum models. One drop and you've got dents and/or loss of functionality. Not a good move on the part of Apple.

My entire office was just outfitted with white MBs because of the durability we need when we travel to client meetings. They have already taken quite a beating and been fine. Can you imagine what will happen if we get aluminum ones? Good lord- they'd have to be replaced so often it's ridiculous. Apple should be moving more toward more durability, not less,especially if they want to keep the professional market.

I know it's not apple made but may I suggest thinkpads? They are military grade for gods sake :eek:.


I love apple but have always had a soft part for thinkpads.

If you talk to thinkpad fans and apple fans you'll find that they are eerily similar :D


Or how about just getting a pro or air with a good rubberized hard case to protect it?
 
The white MacBook lives.

It's only available for edu institutions though.

It's like the reverse eMac, started out edu-only then Apple brought it to the public. The MacBook is now relegated to schools only.

Can you elaborate and what does this mean when they do not upgrade the Macbook?

I mean know one is going be buying a old Macbook.

Educational institutions that need fleets of cheap, portable Macs will. They've done this with various models before - the most recent one that comes to mind is when they kept around the plastic iMacs for educational customers after they introduced the aluminum ones. It allows Apple to keep making and selling the same old laptop, and allows educational institutions to buy large numbers of cheaper Macs for use in classrooms and such.

Rumors, whether here or on AppleInsider or anywhere else, are often just rumors. I liked the MacBook, but I bought an MBP anyway.

The MacBook wasn't selling that many units and the price point is well covered by the MacBook Air.

If you're in a situation where your laptop is liable to fall often, Apple doesn't have anything to offer for you. Your laptop shouldn't be falling at all, ever.

Sure I can say that. A dent does not equal loss of functionality. Internally, the poly laptops and aluminum laptops are of similar build quality. Any fall great enough to dent an aluminum MacBook to the point where functionality was lost would likely do pretty severe damage to a poly MacBook.

Were the poly MacBook rugged? You bet. Are the aluminum MacBooks rugged? Sure thing. I carried my PowerBook G4 around everywhere at college, had a fall or two, and the thing is in tip-top shape. The unibody models are even stronger.

I'm not saying that Apple's move away from a rugged poly is regrettable. I just think that how you portray the lack of ruggability of the unibody MacBooks is a little over the top.
 
Vintage

I was told today that my white macbook is going "vintage" in 3 months.... Also there will be no parts manufactured if something breaks on your macbook after it is "vintage". Ridiculous is all i have to say! This was direct from an apple employee/store manager.

Well, first of all Apple doesn't manufacture parts anyway. There's probably a good size inventory of parts available.

Apple store managers/employees are not the best source of information; they are more interested in selling you a new Mac.
 
yeah I'm sure there will be new mac books coming soon the macbook air ;)

Would not be surprised to see it re branded to the regular macbook when it comes time for the next mba update cycle next year.

What gives you the impression the alu unibody machines are flimsy?
 
I know it may not be the same but for the people that love the white macbook you may have to do some digging but you may be able to get one of those white cases and http://cgi.ebay.com/Red-Metallic-Ke...537?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item3366cca451

not saying color but you may be able to get in white.






Note to me no big deel I'm sure in 4 years from now computers will look so different than now. And the Macbook pro is my favorite .than the Macbook.
