Anyone watching the Today Show this morning notice the new Apple iMac Al Roker is using? It doesn't look like the Pro Display XDR. This iMac has an Apple logo on the bottom and what looks like speaker grills on the side.

I'll try to post a picture next time it comes on - should be within the hour.

Highly doubtful that Apple would even consider that. They're a highly secretive company and even if they did allow a few models to go out, the assignees would have to agree to conditions up the ying-yang.

Al Roker mentions that Apple sent him a new computer (as of yesterday he was using a MacBook Pro instead)

Like the people who got early access to the Mac Pro and put it on instagram did? Calvin Harris comes to mind.

Apple don't send out free stuff out of the goodness of their hearts, and mass-produced stuff doesn't need beta testers.

The side bezels are thicker then the Pro Display XDR. This looks like a new iMac to me.

Totally different. Apple had already revealed the MacPro by the time it was featured in his studio about 6 months later (albeit before it was available to the masses).

Please provide a citation clearly demonstrating where the MacPro was photographicaly leaked before the official announcement.

I'm pretty sure the MP had already been officially announced (at WWDC) by the time Apple sent out samples?

Also here's another image...seems the Apple logo is on the bottom of the base.

You're completely right, but what the hell is that thing then? It's clearly an XDR-esque form-factor without actually being an XDR. And he did a gratuitous Apple plug on his social media just yesterday...

In any other circumstances I'd call hoax, but a weather presenter on live TV with a new iMac in the background? It's almost too weird to make up.

I'm gonna be bullish on this one: I'm actually saying this is a legit new iMac. Maybe I've been locked inside too long and I'm finally cracking, but that's my bet and I'm sticking to it.
I just think sending it somewhere they know it will end up on TV, before it's been announced is a bit of a weird move? If they were sending out samples to test, I would probably at least expect it to be in a mule casing looking closer to the old iMac. I guess if that's indeed what it is, it might be a sort of subliminal product placement thing? People have suspected Apple have directly facilitated 'leaks' in the past, usually to gauge people's reactions.

I dont think apple would put the logo on the front of the stand, that looks horrible.
As @zedsdead said, probably just a XDR

My guess is that it’s an apple Pro Display XDR, he put the big black sticker that comes with it on the base, and his image is simply not taking up the screen hence the wide black appearing bezels on the side.

I was going to say the same. The images are not great quality, but the second one is close up on the top corner. There does appear to be a very slight difference is brightness where the screen would extend to, which reinforces your idea.
