Apple website shows Magic Trackpad as NEW. It doesn't say Magic Trackpad 2 (which was released in 2015) anymore.

What was updated? Is it worth getting new one instead of the 2015 one?

Sorry, I think this is posted in wrong area... can mod help move it to Mac accessories? Ty

Don’t think much has changed at all, they probably re-styled the name to not look so terrible in their lineup. It’s weird since I checked for Magic Mouse 2 and it was fine up until the website change, but now they only have Magic Mouse.

so no performance differences between the two?
If anything they might have bumped the Bluetooth version, but unless someone’s discovered that tidbit from the units shipping with the 24" iMacs, we wouldn’t know because Apple doesn't specify the Bluetooth version on the product page.

The only outward-facing difference for the trackpad is its much rounder corners to match the corresponding updated Magic Keyboard models. It also comes with a braided USB-C to Lightning cable instead of plain USB-A to Lightning.

Not much to write home about, in any case. I'd just see about snagging a discounted 2015 trackpad myself.

I was looking into this myself and found a YouTube video where the reviewer decided to call it the Magic Trackpad 3. He notes that it doesn't feel as premium as the Magic Trackpad 2. I'm still rocking my original.
