Hey everyone I have just got an imac 3.06 24 inch - 4gb ram. At first I was really happy with it until I put in a dvd.
While playing dvds ( yes real ones ;) ) the picture is really really grainy with loads of digital noise - I just cant believe that this is how its supposed to be. I tried using vlc and divx but its the same. At first I thought it must be something to do with the resolution but like I said it just seems unbelievable. also I just noticed when looking at photos - tried getty images and others - that there seems to be some sort of digital noise around the photographed object. say its a persons head shot - there is a little faint squiggly line close to the outline of the objest - like a ghost. HELP!! Could this be a problem with the video card or am i going mental?

Also when I was watching one at night guess what I noticed - the old back light bleed in the bottom corners - worse on the left.

Can other owners please give advice about the dvd play back - need some peace of mind.

Also is it possible to get one of these machines without the backlight bleed? Is it a case of sending back till i get a good one?

Any help would be appreciated. ;)
