A sea of green
Some of those are easy.

is there a selection of Ghz, and does someone have a link for all options available with the new machine.....

Here's Apple's Tech Specs on the computer:

I don't see any selection of GHz listed there. It does, however, list the available options, including RAM (unified memory), storage, color, Ethernet, etc.

1. Yes, external drivers will work.
2. Big Sur is the first macOS version that runs on arm, so nothing before that.
3. No, the CPU is the same in all models.

So Calif
4. GPU option for one more core (8 cores) is available.

I can't wait for the M1 iMac - if it's anything like my 6 month old M1 Mini - it will run circles around my 2019 iMac!

Arriving on Friday - 5/21 - whoo hoo!

External drives should work.
The earliest OS that can run will be Big Sur.
The CPU options are the same in all models but entry level model has 7 core GPU while all others have 8 core GPU.
The entry level $1299 M1 Mac has only 2 ports. All other models have 4 ports.

Generally, the M1 Macs are great. The 24" M1 iMac comes in 7 colours also.
