Hello,

I sold my old mac to get the new 27" imac and am having second thoughts because of all the negative feedback.

Should I just get a windows 7 box or wait for the i5/i7 models?

Thanks

...was that your only computer?

Get a cheap netbook and wait for the iMac issues to calm down a little if you're that concerned...

I have the new iMac 27" right now. It is awesome. I kept my old iMac for a bit just to make sure I didn't have second thoughts. Very good upgrade.

The slow booting was about having to select the correct boot disk; the problems with slowness seem to be related with the Airport drivers (or Flash or w/e) which will most likely be solved soon with new updates from Apple; same for flickering in some iMacs. Tons of people having no problems at all. Also, mass manufacturing always brings along some problems. Just buy it if that was your plan; in case it doesn't work as it's supposed to you can simply switch or return it.

Good luck :)

If you're that close to getting a Windows 7 box, perhaps you should go for it.

(Your Mac brethern will be waiting patiently for when you come screaming back to us. ;) )

no minor issues with a mac will ever make me go back to windows

That's the point, not sure how good windows 7 is.
Plus, I have a lot of Mac software that I purchased over time.

I guess I could always put windows 7 on it and have both.
I love the IPS 27", and do not think I could get this quality in a PC.

Or, you could check out my post :) (New 27" OMG" ) etc...

I LOVE Mac. Come on down, it's great over here in 27" Mac Ville.

Don't mind the nay sayers. I'm a lover. Your mileage may vary though.

The nice thing about Win7 is that it isn't awful. I'm running it on a ThinkPad that came with Vista and I would never (EVER) switch back to Vista. That being said, there is nothing in 7 that makes me want to upgrade my XP gaming rig to 7.

My day-to-day machines are a 15" MBP running Snow Leopard and I just bought a 24" iMac refurb... neither running Windows.
