So I just picked up a brand new 27" iMac quad i5 the other day. Yesterday I used migration assistant to move everything over from my mbp to my iMac. It ended up not working out how I thought so I deleted all the info and just moved over what I needed with an external. Now ever since using migration assistant and notice the hdd making a lot of noise no matter what in doing. It's not the fans or anything but it's like the computer is constantly accessing the hdd even when doing simple tasks. Letting transmission run I can hear the hdd being accessed the whole time and it's very annoying. Anyone have any idea what's going on? It was working fine the first day

May just be Spotlight indexing the drive. Give it time to finish.

Unfortantely it has been 3 days now and is still having the same problem, the hdd is constantly being accessed now matter what I'm doing and is very loud and annoying, it's enough that I can hear it over music or if I an watching something. I've never once heard a computer hdd be so loud. Has anyone hears of this happening before and have any ideas on how to fix it?

The 1 way to fix it is to send it back. If its within 14 days of purchase insist on a replacement. Failing that take it to the woods and shoot it in z head...
