new 27" imac takes ages to go to sleep

just purchased a new 27" Quad core i5 and it takes about 5 seconds for it to go to sleep, and then makes a loud noise after.

My hard drive is also noisy, it whines and drums constantly.

I also have got yellow tint on all sides of the screen.

I live in NZ so if i will not get a new replacement, instead it will be sent away to apple which will take forever

by the way it is the older 27" (late 2009) version.

sleep in 5 sec is the least thing you should be worrying about(it's not really a problem). Good lucky getting an exchange for all the other real problems

also it takes 1 minute to boot up... is this normal?

For that, go to system preferences, startup disk & select Macintosh HD as startup disk.

Yay it worked... how long does it take your imac to go to sleep? does it make one click noise at the end when the screen is black?

I can live with the tint and noise. - too much of a hassle to send off to apple

The click may be the hard drive's heads parking themselves.
