Has anyone bought/received the Mac Pro 3.06 12 core yet? If so are you happy?

What I want to know is whether it is called Mac pro 6,1 officially

I don't think so. There are no new tech docs for a "mid 2012 mac pro".

I'm pretty sure the firmware in the 2010 Mac Pro supports the bumped CPU. If so, you can just buy an 2010 Mac Pro and upgrade the CPU yourself. (if you desperately need the extra few MHz)

Yes. Coming from a 2,1 it's a huge speed bump, but of course I'd be happier if it was what we were all thinking we were going to get. Still the fastest mac you can buy by a considerable margin.

Gets around 26,400 in Geekbench.

And it has a model identifier of 5,1, not 6,1.

Thanks for the info :)
