You can still pop out the sim rendering it useless though, right?

Not if it's connected via WiFi. Of course they could turn that off too, but you'd have to do it in time before they do either.

And if a thief steals your iPhone, pulls out the SIM and turns off WiFi for good, then they've basically turned it into one of these:

If someone steals your phone - and pops out your sim - what are odds they'll choose to connect to wi-fi? And is that confirmed? I thought wipe/etc relied on cellular service, not wifi anyway...
 
I'm really glad about the passcode. I am really using iDisk, and have of copies of family/sensitive information. In case of emergency these copies will come in handy.

But I am glad that I can lock my iphone remotely now. Mobile me is finally becoming worth the money for me...
