New 3G iphone - how to unlock old 1st gen iphone?

I just have a quick question. My employer is springing for a 3g iPhone(I'd like to wait until June for the next gen but who am I to argue about a free phone). As soon as I get the new phone in a day or two, I would like to unlock my 1st gen phone to use when I travel. Should I unlock the 1st gen before transferring service to the 3g or does it make any difference?

Also, I haven't been keeping up with unlocking. Should I use Pwnage Revision: 2.2.5 to unlock my 1st gen phone?

Just use QuickPwn, it can easily unlock the 1st Gen iPhone

You don't need to, but you can if you want. It doesn't hinder the phone, so I would.
