hey guys, i have a 2 tb square Airport Time Capsule and I am trying to get the signal to the back of my new addition.
I have a brand new airport express as an extender.

When i set them up together with Airport Utility next to each other, they seem ok... but when i take it into even just another room i get this error message:
"The Airport Base Station was unable to extend the wireless network. Make sure the wireless network you're trying to extend was set up and is working correctly, that you entered the matching wireless password into this device and this device is in range of the wireless network."

Im trying use this only one room away and its not working when i take it anywhere other than the same room. As it is without the extender, my coverage is 95% off the house. I just need to hit that last 5%... where the new bed is.

im not sure what the issue is.. its simply not connecting and seeing the AE as a working unit. It should be a simple plug and play scenario. Im so confused.

Sounds like you're using a wireless extension method, using the radio on the express to connect to the Extreme, and then provide device connections. It requires a strong enough signal to connect to the router, if you can't connect devices from where you placed the express, you won't be able to connect the express either.

Your best bet is to somehow run Ethernet to the addition, and use the Ethernet port on the Express to uplink to the router. This allows 100% of the radio capacity for devices rather than splitting the duty. If ethernet is not feasible, look into power line adapters, plug one in near the router, another in the addition, and connect the Express to the adapter. This uses the power cables to transmit and receive data between the adapters. Newer power line adapters can get close to 1Gbps, don't go cheap as the older models were lucky to get 50Mbps. Here is a solution I bought a few years ago which has worked well for me.
