Mine doesn't do that. You should consider getting yours checked out soon, as it could be a loose screw that could end up damaging other internal parts in the long run.

Yep, mine also doing that kind of thing. Clicking, creaking, popping. There's already been a couple of threads around the forums here with people reporting the same issues. Some people took it to the Apple store and got their laptops replaced. Others got the screws tightened, which solved the problem.

I bought mine in Singapore and I live in Latvia, where we do not have a real Apple Store (just resellers). But we do have an Apple Service center, where I took my 13" ultimate MacBook Air to fix the problem. The technician re-seated the bottom case and it decreased the creaking sound, but did not completely remove it.

I bought a pentalobe screwdriver from ifixit, and tried to tighten the screws myself and messed them up (some don't turn anymore due to broken heads). Now I ordered an original replacement screw set through ebay and got a Macbook air 13" technician guide, which tells the exact order in which the screws should be put in (http://is.gd/A30Ga3, page 120). I will try once again and see if it helps. Otherwise, I will take the laptop to the Service Center once more and demand a repair or replacement of some of the parts or the whole computer.

The creaking sound drives me mad and makes me disappointed. And I feel a bit pissed off about having this kind of trouble with my first Mac.

Mine was making a creaking sound. Tightening the screws didn't help, but completely removing and reseating the bottom plate (at the genius bar, not by myself) seems to have fixed it. Keeping my fingers crossed, since I just had this done last night near closing time. Even if it turns out not to be 100% gone, it's definitely infinitely better, since putting it into bag/taking it out of the bag/moving it around on the desk, and otherwise doing routine things I do daily last night and this morning/afternoon has been blissfully quiet.

DEFINITELY take it in a.s.a.p. If you don't have an Apple Store nearby, call AppleCare and register the issue. Don't try to fix it yourself this early on, as you could be voiding the warranty.

I've had mine apart many times to try to figure this out and can't. I have the 11" ultimate. If you pick it up from the left side, a loud click/pop is heard sometimes, not always.

I think it comes from the plastic chassis that holds each battery cell, but I'm really not sure. It's not really an issue unless you're really bothered by the sound.

Took mine into a Genius Bar for the same problem, and not only did they re-seat the thing, but they screwed the batteries in tighter, so that the outside chassis doesn't touch the battery, which they think contributes to the noise. After a week it's not as quiet as, say, an iPad when you pick it up, but much better.

I notice the noise and cricks when I pick it up from the front, opened. I will keep an eye on it if it seems to get worse. It did not do that the first few weeks. It has been about 9 weeks.

I had a similar issue with my 11", as it started to creak on the front and sides after three months. The first time I took it into the Apple store, the Genius Bar tightened the screws for me, but that actually made it worse and creak in different places. I took it in a second time, and they took off the bottom panel completely and reseated it and the screws. That seemed to fix it, as I haven't had any creaking or noises since (three weeks ago). Anyway, I'd definitely try to get it fixed.

I have the same issue on a 13" ultimate. Will do as recommended and pop into a genius bar!

I had the same issue. I went into a Genius Bar and asked for them to look into it and maybe tighten the screws a bit. Fixed it right up. Now I notice A LOT less of it. It happened when mainly grabbing the air from one hand. Doesn't happen anymore :)
