Hi Guys

Please dont be angry for me asking this question again/without trailing through hours of other text. If if does annoy you or make you want to leave a negative response please dont worry about spending anytime on this and thanks for reading... Any other help is GREATLY appreciated.

As i message'd before Im deciding between a new pro 13 or Air having now sold a 17 pro - I need maximum portable comfort as now travelling loads.

Im in a position to buy now but I dont want to with all the rumors of a new Air about to be released. The recent keynote speech didnt mention anything and now im really in two minds as whether to just buy a 13 pro or wait out for some news on a new Air variant.

Does anyone have any idea when we'll know more.

Thanks in advance for your help and sorry for annoying anyone like I did before.

Much appreciated

Chris A

As you may have already guessed from the multitude of threads on this topic - nobody knows. My guess is as good as yours. The MBA is great, I have one. My thoughts are that there is no update before 2011. It has C2D now, whose EOL is at the end of the year. So come 2011 the MB, 13 MBP and the Air need new chips which fits nicely with a new update. Will it happen for the air - who knows.

I had a similar dilemma, was waiting since rev. A and finally decided to buy a 1.86/SSD refurbished from Apple to at least have one and work with it also due to increased travel at that time. If its updated I sell it or it gets passed on in the family. If they don't update it I at least have the latest and last one and have used it. So, I guess the answer depends on your need for an Air. I you need it right now I would by still a refurbished one, if not wait 'til January

I've had both the Macbook Air revision C, and a 13 inch 2010 Macbook Pro. The Pro is a much better machine for the reasons you'd suspect. I feel very vindicated in my choice to sell the MBA for it.

I would say October especially since C2D might be reaching EOL by the end of this year.

I think October 2010 makes the most sense... however there are some rumors that the low voltage Sandy Bridge chips will not be ready until January or February. Those graphics are supposedly more than 2x better than Arrandale's IGP.

I also think Apple would want a few new products for the holiday season. Let's hope Intel got some chips ready for Apple early, and they will be updated in October. I suppose a 7" iPad, and another MBP update would keep holiday shoppers happy, along with the new iPod Touch. So it all depends I suppose.

Apple has been ignoring the MBA for nearly two years, next month will be two years, so who knows???

My .02.

If you have space for a 13"- you have space for a 15". This is just my .02. I have the 15" 2010 MBP you see in my sig and I couldn't be happier. Battery life is AWESOME! Gameplay is decent (it's a Mac;). The antiglare HD screen is GREAT! I'm in love! Go for the 15";)

The point of an air is the thinness. I have a 15" HR AG and am looking to get an air (not even looking at a pro), because I want the lightest thing possible to carry day to day. I go on rotations at hospitals so I don't have my own desk, and the 15.4" weight is really killing my shoulders.

I only said this bc he said that if the Air wasn't revised soon that he would go with the 13" MBP.

I too would someday appreciate a MBA but right now, the MBP just outclasses it in everything but size/weight.

I'm waiting for Moore's law to allow MBP power in MBA form.

I disagree. There are several points to the MBA, but number one is WEIGHTlessNESS... or so it seems. Number two is avoiding carrying around a 1.25 lb. 10-hour battery. Number three is not adding weight and space carrying around an absolutely WORTHLESS optical drive. Number four is thinness. Number five is coolness. Number six is the all-around FUN and addition to quality of life adding of computer use.

Yes I guess I should have spelled it out. Thinness equates weightlessness. That's why I compared the weight of my macbook pro to the air and talked about my aching shoulders.
