I just got a pair of airpod pros and I cannot get them to update the firmware to the latest version. It is on 2D27.

I've tried everything I could find. I've used them, put them in the case that is on a charger, and waited. I've done it with the charger open and closed. I've done wired and wireless charging. I've done where my iPhone is charging also and not charging. I've told my iPhone to forget the airpods and then reinstall them.

Any suggestions?

They will eventually. I wish I could keep that version. I have to get mine replaced twice now because of the buzz/rattle. The replacements keep coming with 2D27, then later update. I love that version. The new one sucks. ANC and sound is worse.

Yep. I got a replacement pair recently as well (the "recessed mic grill" updates), and had this same experience. After about 36 hrs, they finally updated to current firmware, and showed full serial numbers. Just go about using them, and put them on a charger overnight, and eventually they'll update.
