Just received my new Airpods. Plugged in to charge to my laptop - nothing happens. Plugged in via AC adapter, red light comes on for like 5 seconds and then turns off. When I open the lid, the white light flashes but I am never able to set up via the phone and they never come up as discoverable in Bluetooth settings either. I have restarted the phone and tried toggling Bluetooth and Wifi both - still not working. Any ideas?

ETA: They don't show up as discoverable in my iPad either.

Hold the button at the back of the case for 15 seconds to reset it. Wait for the orange flashing light followed by a white flashing light.

Then try to connect again

Let them sit on the charger for a while. This has happened to me before on other Airpods when the battery is completely drained. It takes a few minutes for it to start charging normally.

Tried all of the reset instructions via Apple Support as well and nothing worked. Until I tried doing it while plugged in - must have been because of an extremely low battery. They finally connected and the case and the airpod itself both only showed 3 and 5% charge, respectively. I've never had an Apple product ship to me with such a low charge.
