I picked up my first pair of AirPods today and I’m so excited. I absolutely refused to buy the AirPods 1 and 2 because the tip that goes into your ear were the same as the EarPods and quite honestly, the EarPods are horrible. I could make a microscopic movement and they fall out.

These things have been out of stock practically since they were released, I happened to check this morning and one of the 3 Best Buy’s in my area had a couple in stock (apple store didn’t even have any)

If anyone is unsure whether they want to get these, get them. The sound quality is probably the best I’ve heard in earbuds (keep in mind I’ve never had expensive earbuds). They fit great, the ugly stem is gone, and it was super super easy to set up.

I had issues with the v1 AirPods falling out all the time. I had to use an adaptor that had to be removed to put them in the case. So far my APP are working well and staying in without any adaptor.
I had a set on order that was due at the end of the month, but found them at an Apple Store near where I was going on Saturday so I ordered them for later pick up and cancelled the other order. I'm quite happy with them, but still think they were kind of pricy.

they do seem pricey but if you read about all the technology (on the Apple product page) that goes into such a tiny package it doesn’t seem so bad.

My APP also arrived today, can't wait to get home and test them. I have been reading the articles on the forum about them and they seem great.

You might want to read a few more of the forum threads. The ANC was nerfed in a recent firmware update. The sound quality now pretty much sucks.

Yeah i have also heard about the latest updates. We will see. I'm sure Apple will probably release a good update soon enough.

How do I check the version? How do you update?

settings>general>about>tap on your named APP and view model number. Most likely it’s still 1.0.0. Your AirPods update themselves when in the case and connected to power with your phone nearby. If you have 2B588 firmware there is nothing to update. 2C54 was pulled by Apple a while back. The masses are awaiting a new version at some point.

I was simply curious if you received a pair from current stock in circulation.

I just checked and mine are on 1.0.0. How do I stop it from updating?

nvm read above. If I read correctly they pulled the bad firmware?

1.0.0 is the hardware model number. That won't update. Its the firmware number you need to look at. It will probably read 2B588. That is the latest firmware so theres nothing to update.

Not yet. 1.0.0 simply refers to the 1st production run of APP. I’m simply curious to see if any hardware revisions are happening since a 30 day window continues with new orders with current stock being used for replacements and an occasional pair or two showing up in brick and mortars every so often. This to me indicates a production stop. I expect the version number to be different when we see the 30 day hold close as new units enter the system. This is simply my opinion. Hopefully it is just Apple resetting from a significant QC issue at the production point from rushing a product out for the Holidays. Typical Half Baked Apple maneuver.

So, you’re fine. :apple:

The 30 day order time is still very much apparent but there is an increasing amount of stocks reaching the Apple retail stores. The east coast of America has received bucket loads in the last two days. No shipments have reached Europe for five days now

I’m enjoying my APP. Only thing I’ve noticed is that the right airpod gets to 99% battery as soon as it’s off the case, while the other stays at 100%. But i guess that might a calibration issue? I dont know.

Right got mine today same firmware and build as above.
Initial thoughts being slightly hard of hearing was worried about the sound level, but pretty impressed, done a wee daft test with my Sennhiesers momentum much prefer the APP.
Now noise cancelling have only once tried this in work where a friend let me try her Bose overear and was blown away, these seem pretty meh.
Wife was on the phone to her mum and I could hear her mum on the other end of the phone.
Tried switching between the modes and there is a difference but that’s about it.
For me not a deal breaker as the NC was a bonus rather than a necessity, but really impressed with the sound from these wee guys.
