Has anyone heard any rumors about new AirPod models coming out? One of my AirPods has developed a slight separation in the glue seam, and they are out of warranty. I am considering replacing that AirPod, but if the new ones are coming, I can wait and just get the new ones.

Any ideas what time frame we're looking at for the new models?

There has been zero rumors indicating of any Gen 2 AirPods in 2018. I don't forsee this being an annually updated item with Apple, even though they launched in December 2016. And the current AirPods that are available are still facing constraint.

I personally would just replace the current AirPod that you have, otherwise you might be waiting much longer than you anticipate.

There is only one thing coming out. The wireless case Airpods. Perhaps an Airpod revision happens then.

The only reason for the revised charging battery case is for the AirPower wireless charging. That's not an indication that a revision of the AirPods will happen, and I don't forsee them being updated in 2018. Is it possible a refresh could happen in 2018? Yes, but I highly doubt it with the first Gen models selling exceedingly well and they have only been available just a year last month.

Thanks to everyone for their thoughts... kind of what I was thinking, as well. Calling Apple later today to order a replacement.

You never know, Apple might replace that AirPod that is separating away from The adhesive . Even if it's out off warranty, they might make an exception if you ask them and you send in the defective AirPod, where they replace yours. I would at least see what they say.

Winner, winner, chicken dinner!

I called Apple to enquire about purchasing a replacement AirPod... because my AirPods were purchased on Dec 29, I am just barely out of warranty, and the AppleCare specialist was able to replace the defective part ("one time only replacement") as a warranty/good will exchange.

UPDATE: I just got an email with a tracking number... and a notice that they put a hold on my credit card in the amount of $76.70 that will be released once they receive the defective AirPod via return shipment.

One could easily deduce that the charge for a replacement would be the same $76.70, including tax, so the price could vary slightly by your location.

And this is a testament Apple's customer service. Granted the suggestion was made to you by contacting them even though you're out of your warranty, they still had acknowledged the possible defect. And that's exactly why Apple is who they are because they stand behind their products and assist the customer where they can.
