Everyone here seen the New ALP Screenshots (ACCESS Linux Platform)? It sure is looking a lot like the iPhone interface...

is it touchscreen also?

Every Treo and Palm I have ever owned has been touch-screen. (Since 1999)

Was that an actual question? Or am I that tired?

palm has used that style of launcher since the inception of the PDA. If anything apple simply adopted what people are already used to.

Come on, Apple just evolved the Newton UI... ;-)

I'll tell you what though, that phone and camera icons are almost a direct ripoff of the iPhone.

Linux Treo

The biggest problem I have had with Palm products has been stability. I have owned both the Treo 650 and 680. Both have had problems locking up and crashing and rebooting. When the iPhone came out, I bought one and am extremely happy with it. Although there are a few apps that are needed, overall the phone is far more elegant and is much more stable than the Treo could ever hope to be. I will never be switching back...

The phone looks like a phone. The camera looks like a camera. Don't get me wrong, I'm an iPhone fan, but that's like telling an apple tree to stop knocking off Apple Inc.

Definitely has a touchscreen, because it maintains Garnet compatibility.

And it has qwerty keyboard SUPPORT, those specs weren't for that specific device.

Front camera = HSDPA. Wake up APPLE!!!!

Ouch, stop yelling already.

I am sure Apple are awake. I am sure they have reasons for their choices of supported and un supported features.

Do you go around yelling "Wake up Sony Erickson, you have no touch screen!" or "Wake UP LG, your touch screen is far too small!" or "Wake up << insert any phone manufacturer here>>, your opera browser is rubbish!" Um no.

Would be great if people could just appreciate the features they do have, and complain less about what they don't have. After all you decided to buy the device.

Also front camera != HSDPA, I have a standard 3g Sony Errickson v600i which has a camera in the front, but is not HSDPA. Its just for standard video calling, which will also be able to be used for video chat through apps I would say.

I've been a treo user since the treo 300 to the treo 755p. Also having owned every iteration in between. No icons that they've used in the past to represent those two functions come close to the above pic. You're crazy if you don't think the influence isn't there.

Actually, I do

I'm constantly banging on the Microsoft folk to let companies put Windows CE IE 6.0 on Windows Mobile as at least an option, instead of just the pitiful IE Mobile.

I also yell at MS for continuing to try to dumb down the UI so that it mostly works with key-driven cheap phones, instead of making it more touch screen friendly.

As for Opera, I'm mad at them for dropping their Opera Platform project, which would've changed the mobile world by giving us all a standardized app framework.

So yeah, I, for one, have said almost exactly those things!

Kev ;-)
