I am a dedicated Apple user since 2001. I’ve owned several Apple devices including iMacs, iPhones, iPads and iPods. I’ve enjoyed and had good service from all of them…but.

Every once in awhile Apple does something that annoys me. They redesign an app or introduce a feature that is supposed to be better and the greatest thing…only it’s not.

I’m sure this will vary from individual to individual, but I’m reasonably sure we have all experienced this in some way or other.

For myself iTunes has not been “improved.” I found it better, more intuitive and generally easier to use before they changed it to Music. System Preferences was better than System Settings in that I simply found it easier to find things. Now iPad OS 18 has changed Photos (for one thing) and I feel it’s gotten more convoluted and complicated. I don’t need to see samples of “recent days” or whatever else when I open the App, and I don’t know if I can clear that crap away for it to be more like before or if I’m stuck with it.

Part of what drew me to Apple was its generally more intuitive setup. Yet every so often they get away from that by needlessly changing something for the sake of change that doesn’t actually improve anything. Same with introducing new features that I don’t recall hearing anyone wishing for. My iPhone and iPad are loaded with features I don’t even know exist and things I will never use given they already do everything I need and have for years.

Thats my rant for today. Anyone else experience this?

For me, there was nothing wrong with iTunes that couldn’t be fixed with some kerosene and a match.

The Music app is WAY simpler, in a good way.
