Photo District News online has posted a new, and quite favorable, review of Aperture. Of note is their comment that Apple already has an update in beta!

This is a real photo site for pro's, and I think their take is closer to mine. The issue with RAW isn't really a big issue for me - if the program saves me 10 hours as I cull 1500 photos down to 20 final picks, why should I complain about the additional 15 seconds it takes me to export these picks to the desktop? I'd spend an extra 15 seconds to save 10 hours any day!
From my experience, I've been quite happy with the program in the 10 days or so I've used it. I like the way it stores files, speaking from experience. I had a major Cumulus database lose it's links (a team member somehow managed to do this!!) and fought, unsuccessfully, to re-link the files them over the space of a couple of years.
I just hooked up a new 500 GB drive (a couple of old 250 GB's are moving on to "vault" status) so that should solve my storage problems for a year or two, unless I finally scan more of my old Velvia slides that continually cry out for digitization!
I would also agree with the review that my biggest surprise was the "stacks" feature. It never really came into my thinking, but now it would be hard to live without it. As to my Aperture library size, it is currently about 30 GB, as I am slowly importing sections of my work and implementing keywords as I go. Hopefully the update will speed up the slow keyword search issue, one of my main issues!
