Hello,

I had been waiting to see Datacase as it sounds promising, but today Files showed up in the appstore so for 7.99 I thought I would give it a try.

I played with it for a few minutes now and it connects without issue. Just drag files onto the webdav server and the files transfer to the phone.

Viewing is good so far. I tried a couple pdfs and docs (it does not support docx yet). It supports portrait and landscape viewing.

If you are looking for such an app take a look. (Sorry if this review is rather short. It is my first review and is based on 5 minutes of use)

What's the "webdav server"? Do you have to connect to a site on your computer to transfer the files?

Thanks!

the app on the phone acts as the webdav server that you can connect to with your mac or pc.

on a mac just select connect to server in the finder and enter in the phone address (this is provided in a pop-up on the phone when you start the app) and then enter in the user name and password if you have set one, and you are connected to your phone.

On the iPhone/Touch is there a "finder" that allows you to see and organize files? Can you delete, rename, etc? Can you sync them back to your Mac?

I've been awaiting DataCase, but they look to be going a little slow.

So can I connect to iDisk or AmazonS3 with this? If it has WebDAV support...

Can you save your spot?

Like a bookmark?

The biggest reason I'd like to have this is to read ebooks but it won't do me much good if I can't bookmark where I left off.

Edit: I ended up buying this yesterday and IMO it is very easy to setup and us.

Bookmarks are also working just how I wanted.

The only things that might be nice for future versions would be the abality to download from a FTP site directly to the phone and better support for pdf's. Right now I have a comic book based PDF that just doesn't want to zoom in like it should but I think it has sometimg to do with being basically all images. Regular old txt files look great though and can be made to fit the screen perfectly. All in all I'd give it a 4 out of 5 stars.

to answer the questions:

there is a finder
swipe to delete files
you can't seem to rename files, but you can bookmark files
when you close a file and reopen it, it reopens at the position you closed it
I don't think it can connect to iDisk - it acts as a server using the same tech as iDisk

here is the website for the app:
