Given 3.0 ability to access the iPods music do you think someone could develop a cool karaoke player, one that would be perfect for the car or something? I would buy it in a heartbeat.

The new ability to access the iPod library doesn't really make it any easier to create a karaoke app that does anything beyond act as another music player for you to sing along to.

Well there IS technology that strips away vocals from music you already own:

It would be kind of really cool if there was an app that could access your library and somehow play back the music with no (or reduced) vocals, yet not actually damage the original music files. At the same time it would take the data from the song and pull up the lyrics from any number of lyric sites, to flash on the screen. Throw in some other cool effects, and it would actually be a really fun app.

I have no idea if this is AT ALL technically possible, but if it was...it would be majorly cool. :D

One of the main problems is that there is no way to access the actual song files, only control what song is playing. So there would be no way to strip vocals even if it worked perfectly (which it doesn't).
