Does anyone think Apple will update their cinema displays soon? Just comparing the specs to some other products it looks like they are slipping behind a bit.

As for Apple, my bet is they will release a new monitor with the new desktops...when ever that is.

I doubt they'll be updating their LCD's soon. They may change something if Dell comes up with a 3007FPW.

The rumors are already going... MWSF January 2006! I'm also waiting for the update and then I'll order my new 23" ACD!! When the new iMacs where released the rumors started. The new screen of the iMac is better then the ACD and the competition also has (much) better screens. So Apple needs to update it. Also, the price drop last month is as always to clear out old inventory... Do you need more speculation?

How 'bout a built-in iSight? Seems like they might do it. And yes, the ACD pales in comparison to the Gateway.

But perhaps only in terms of numbers. One most not get bogged down in the specs and consider things like blacklight, image quality, manufacturer's reputation, customer service, etc. I think you can always find a display with better specs than an ACD but that doesn't necessarily make it a better display.

the iMac is VGA out, the cinema displays are DVI in. I think you need an adapter, which cost $300 or so (Dr. Bott). You are probably better off getting a monitor that supports VGA inputs.

Ok i connected my 15" samsung monitor to my iMac. But I can't seem to do a dual screen setup. They are both showing the same picture. I wont it to roll over, if you get what I mean, like two monitors next to each other.... any ideas how you do this?

Edit: I have read the help docs and they say there should be an arrange option... I can't see any arrange option .

Is this feature not available on the iMac?

Google ScreenSpan Doctor. Run the little app and you should now have dual screen spanning, rather than mirroring.

Still waiting for a 23" or 22" iMac G5 or whatever Intel equal-ant they decide to call it. I know I will be waiting for a while, however I have this feeling that the 20" iMac will be the new 17" low end model. 17" LCD screens are small and 15" screens look like postage stamp. I am spoilt indeed.

True, but my point remains. A year ago PC World rated the ACD as the best display availible. Now it probably wouldn't.

New Cinema Displays

I thought that were going to be announcing the new XLB3B 28" 3D display in January. Anyone know if that one is a possibility?
