ohh

It's getting better, we want more pro-feeling!
About time Apple cut that candycrap.
Wonder if that is in "graphite" mode and it's the same old thing in "blue" mode.

Hmmm...nice!

Its gorgeous! I like it! :) If Panther is reaching final release next week, we can expect it very soon! Buckle up guys, this is gonna be a kick ass OS! :)

HATE it. Absolutely positively HATE it.

How original, a "swoosh" inside the Apple.

How generic and late '90s can you get?

I like it. I think it's a much cleaner design than the Aqua apple. I understand this also replaced the grey apple on boot.

Is it even possible to run osX on a 400mhz g3 with 192 mb of ram?

I like it but I also like the lack of pin stripes.. I've been kinda tired of that look for a while. So how does this release process work.. if we're nearing the final build, how soon before we have to pay for it?

The swoosh is suppose to provide a 3-D effect - tough to tell until you see it full size in good lighting. I think it's awesome, much better than the "X"

I think (?) he was joking... when you look at the silver apple logo on one of the new displays it looks like that. Who knows...

It didn't. The Apple is still solid gray on boot.

If you meant the one above the "Welcome to Mac OS X" screen, then yes, it did.

It oughta be animated. You know, a little shimmering light effect. I guess I'm easily entertained: when Netscape first came out, I liked watching the animated N graphic while waiting for my pages to load.

Unfortunately, I wasn't kidding.

Maybe I just need to see it full resolution, but to me this whole"swooshing" business has got to stop.

Here's a perfect example of a design / marketing nightmare. The the ditching of Paul Rand's logo for the awful thing below.

At least it has a "swoosh"

Uhh, in what way is this a "design/marketing nightmare"? Maybe design, but that's an opinion not shared by everyone. UPS stock dropped as a result of a logo makeover? C'mon. I for one will not lose any sleep if apple redesigns their logo.

Jag runs fine for me on that configuration... (OSX Server even. :) Although it gets a bit sluggish at times, but the ram was only 128MB I just bumped it to 640MB..)

I like the new Logo. Any of you guys believe that they will be at the final build next week?

I need Panther ASAP for a client...

I like it a lot. Looks very classy and distinctive. I also think Apple might be wanting to get away from the "X" moniker, because eventually we're going to 11, and they might be dropping the Roman numerals. Just a thought....

uh - as someone also (i presume) in that particular industry, the new UPS brand update is ACE - a perfect example of updating a brand that needs to be pushed into the new century without losing your original recognition... nicely done UPS! GE has done the same thing with their imagination at work monogram - its been EIGHTY years since they've touched it (GE)... a long time without a bit of an update.

as far as the Apple logo goes - i like the new one in Panther - they need to kill the candy-coating thing for sure - and i agree, hit those scroll-bars and progress-bars!

I also think it is a pretty neat update. Although, I do like the X, too, just because this big brushed aluminum X has this sort of awe-inspiring feel to it, but then again, I think that X is one of the coolest letters of the alphabet.

One of? Stop fudging, Powerbook G5. Either you think X is the coolest letter of the alphabet or you don't. If we Californians can pick one governor from 135 candidates, surely you can pick one letter out of 26.

X ain't bad, but in my opinion Q is the coolest letter. Apple simply didn't want to have to pay me royalties for using it.

Who should pay royalties to who? *looks at Doctor Q's avatar. :D

edit: I must say I really like the new logo, it's powerful looking.
