Now that the MacBook has been discontinued, only the Air and MacBook Pro lines are left. Does this mean that Apple may have a new laptop in the future? I hope so, but it looks like their focus is more towards the iPads, which I personally do not like, but I have nothing against Apple for doing so.

Not really. The MacBook and MBA lines were merged. While there is likely new hardware quickly approaching, there will likely not be a third line of notebooks, until there is a compelling reason to do so.

Yes, the MacBook line was merged into the MBA line, which is why the MBA no longer has a price premium.

I'm glad they finally discontinued the MacBook... it sucked (note: any electronic that is made of plastic and currently being sold today probably sucks). I just hope that Apple will always have a powerful laptop and desktop available. I really don't want to see the MacBook Air and Pro merge...
Actually, my school got a bunch of unibody MacBooks, and yes, they are slightly ugly. But the curvy shape that the last one had was good, and the bottom (to me) slightly resembled the one on the clamshell iBook, except in white.
Same with my school, and Word takes about one minute to open
I like the design of the MacBook... it's very good looking considering it was made by Apple, but I have yet to see any plastic computer made by a large technology company perform well. The fact that the computer is made of plastic shows that the company was trying to save money by not using metal. Then something is clearly wrong with those MacBooks, speaking as an owner and user of a pre-unibody MacBook that handles Microsoft Office 2011 with ease. It probably only takes about 20 seconds for Adobe Illustrator CS5 to open on my MacBook, which is way more of a hog than Word.
To OP: No chance. As stated, MBs merged into MBAs, and even the lower MBPs are rumored to be possibly merged with MBAs or at least become more "MBA-like".

Yeah, malman is right, there could be something wrong with them. I use emacs or nano in Terminal because the files don't work with the computers I use. Except that once a teacher came by and thought I was hacking into the school computers.
Lol, you're probably partially right. School wi-fi never works, mail and other services are constantly down for "critical maintenance", I'm asked for advice, and one glimpse at the IT department will explain everything... I've never had great experiences with MacBooks though, but that's my opinion
