I was online at lunchtime and thought I'd check on the progress of Leeds' soon to be newest shopping centre. So I clicked on their website and found the below image...it seems to show an Apple logo on one of the units. Currently there is a Premium Reseller in Leeds.

Speaking from experience:

It's likely the premium reseller will shut up shop. The employees may go and work at the store instead.
When the Highcross store opened in Leiecester that's exactly what happened.

It looks like it's going to have exactly the same stores as everywhere else... ;)

Since searching info about a possible Newcastle store from last year (with it being confirmed to the public in october last year and opened in February) I also came across information that said Leeds was to get one in late 2010, so the answer is yes. Also, Edinburgh is getting a store aswell.

Also, it looks like you are getting a Hollister aswell, another shop that I love. Both the Apple store and Hollister are shops that are my must visit's in my visits into Newcastle.

At last. The thought of having to drive to Manchester for an official Apple Store if anything went wrong with my Mac was annoying.

I do however, know a place in leeds that fixed my friends MacBook Pro for about half the price Apple said they could do it at. And since I killed my Apple Care by smoking by my MacBook, I don't think an Apple Store will come to much use for me at the present moment.

The back of beyond.
It is one of the biggest gaps in the country that needs an Apple store. I thought they might open one in Harrogate instead, lower traffic but higher spending demographic but Leeds isn't that far and will probably do a lot better overall.

Living equal distances from Leeds and Manchester means I get a choice now so its great overall.

If it's true that's great news, I'm originally from Leeds and it was a nightmare having to travel to either Meadowhall in Sheffield or the Trafford Centre in Manchester.

Although when I was there over Christmas, I'd heard that the Trinity project had been shelved because of the recession...

[edit] Also, it looks like that plan image has changed... I very much doubt it's gonna just be a huge M&S...

Do you know if the recruitment process is the same for us in the UK as it is in the US? I've applied for the Plymouth store!

Finally!

I bought my Mac in 2009 from the KRCS in Leeds... I love going in there, but a real Apple Store would be amazing.

The guys who work in KRCS are really nice though, I hope they get a job at the new Apple Store and don't get made redundant
