New apple tv USB hack?

Hi

Is it very likely that the new apple tvs micro USB port could be hacked to use an external hdd with it?

How long did it take after release to hack the last version?

I really want to buy it but I also don't want to have to have my iMac on when I want to watch something.

Its very hard to say. The hacks installed on the current gen Apple TV's still aren't perfect, so it will probably take a while before the new Apple TV's are able to do this, if they ever are.

I'm more interested in when it will be hacked to view networked drives like the WD boxes or allow the bbciplayer to be viewed! It would be the perfect home media system for me.

idk. the fact that you hack it threw usb and this doesnt have that makes me wonder. then no on board storage mean there isnt probably a syncing option in itunes.
