iPad Pro New Apple UK 18W USB-C charger

Just bought an Apple 18W USB-C charger for using with my iPad Pro 10.5" and iPhone Xr, supports fast charging and so much better size wise with folding pins than the old iPad charger.

So I'm not sure on the output etc but wondering if anyone knows how it would power up a Nintendo switch? It would just save my carrying the bulky Nintendo charger as well.

I charged my Switch on iPad Pro's 18W charger with no problems. I don't know how fast it was compared to Nintendo's charger, I didn't do any measurements, but I think it was the same.

Great stuff. Didn't overheat or anything? Still trying to find the specs that's all of the Apple and Nintendo one.

Maybe the Apple one won't allow charge and play but that's ok it's more to carry less about.

Loving the better size, shape etc of the Apple UK 18W one than the old bulky iPad 12W one, and now fast charges compatible is and iPhones and other none Apple phones

It didn’t overheat. These devices regulate how much power they take, so there is no worry that they will overheat. Apple makes reliable chargers and cables. The only “issue” with using an Apple USB charger could be in the case that it has lower wattage than the charger you’re used to - so that it charges slower than the one you used before (I doubt that is the case with Switch one), but you shouldn’t worry using it for Switch and other devices.

Yeh tbh I bought another branded one, ESR from Amazon UK, high wattage power delivery, but it's huge and probably overkill.

Prefer the Apple one when seen it on YouTube and much better design and size, and you're right better quality.

Can't see what wattage the Nintendo one is, but happy that you've tried and works, maybe bit slower as you say but can live with that.

What are the specs of both? Not sure if true but looks like switch is a little picky with voltages etc. Seems that one is 15V@2.6A and think the Apple max voltage

only cables with a 56kΩ resistor should be used with the console otherwise you have the chance of bricking the console. If you have a Nintendo Switch Pro controller use that cable with the apple charging block.

How will I know if the cable had the resistor in? Do reputable brands? Is this stated from Nintendo that is required?

Nintendo recommends to use their original cables to avoid damage. That’s why I said if you have the pro controller its best to use that cable.

Only reason i would recommend this is due to many switches getting bricked when used with 3rd party docks and chargers as the the switch is very picky when it comes to power.

You can look up on amazon 56 ohm USB-C cable and find one. I use the cable from Satisfye.com their cables have the 56 ohm resistor.

I don’t take any chance charging my switch with anything other than the original cable that came with he switch and with a power bank using the satisfye cable.

There is higher chance in bricking the console using everything else. But then again if you use the 56 ohm resistor cable you should be fine.

Just wondering if the Apple USB-C 18W charger is enough and good enough. I have a USB-C to USB-C, but actually think it's just an Amazon brand one.

Just I'm trying to go all USB-C using this charger as like the compact size and fast charging capability.

Don't have a Pro controller, have official Anker switch powerbank though, that has USB-C to USB-C with it that should be "official" Nintendo?
