Does the Ethernet port on the new AppleTV function as a port (or bridge) to extend wireless internet to another device, or does it work as just a port to connect wired internet to the AppleTV from a router?

Unable to share ATV ethernet port

psymac,

I'm having the same problem. I have had an Airport Express behind my home theater setup through which I've been streaming music and sharing the ethernet connection through a downstream router to my HDTV, bluray player, and Directv DVR. That has all worked brilliantly. When I bought a new Apple TV, I was hoping to remove the Airport Express and move it to a different location. However, I have been unable to successfully share the ATV ethernet port to the router or any of those connected devices. I've had to leave the Airport Express there solely for the internet connection. Rats!
